A night that you wear too much makeup, break the bank for a one-time wear and hope that you are not the one in the bathroom crying. Okay, so maybe I’m not a huge fan of prom and although my pessimism for this past April 30th was very evident, I ended up having a really good time.
Now prom season is coming to an end and the graduation gowns are coming out but I thought it would be funny to reminisce on old times. I guess reminiscing on my prom would be simply remembering what happened last month, so I decided to ask around the office for people to bring in their prom pictures to see the styles and hear the stories of past proms and formals.
Something that really stood out to me when looking at these pictures was the different tux’s that the guys wore. I had never before seen anything besides a black or white tux. Although I believe that white tuxes are the definition of tacky, I really liked the blue jacketed tuxes that two of my coworker’s dates wore. Instead of matching the shirt or handkerchief they matched the jacket which I think would be a fun retro style to bring back.
The color patterns were also interesting to me. The dresses in the seventies had a pastel theme to them, whereas the nineties dresses had bolder colors like red and black. My past prom I saw a lot of people again in pastels and this year’s big colors were purples and blues. In the end color choice for one’s prom dress relies heavily on that year’s trend and your own preference and skin tone.
